Workforce Development Board

Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board is a dynamic group of partners in the private and public sectors that provide leadership, direction, and policy oversight of the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System. The mission of Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board is to be a Local Workforce Development Board that drives the innovation, integration, continuity, productivity, and efficiency of a workforce system that produces a robust, qualified, and skilled workforce that meets the needs of business. The Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board achieves its mission by identifying its customer as businesses who hire Prince George’s County residents and ensuring that the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board is mostly comprised of members who represent businesses who operate in Prince George’s County.

Established through the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Area Governance Agreement, Employ Prince George's serves in multiple capacities within the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Area. Employ Prince George’s, as a 501c3 nonprofit, is the Fiscal Agent and Administrative Agent for the Workforce Development Board.  Employ Prince George’s President & CEO serves as the Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board and Employ Prince George’s serves as the operator of the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System.  Lastly, Employ Prince George’s serves as the largest Career Services Provider for the Workforce Development Board.

51% of the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board’s membership are business executives. These executives represent small to large businesses and businesses from all of Prince George’s County’s in-demand industry clusters.

Guidance

The Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board provides guidance and oversight of the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Area, along with local policy development and administration for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).  Under the guidance of the Prince George’s County Workforce Development Board, and through the operational leadership of Employ Prince George’s, the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System services over 25,000 job seekers and businesses annually.

Prince George’s County’s Public Workforce System is modeled as America’s first local public workforce system operating as a free membership network. The network is branded as the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network.
